jaco is approx 60 miles sw of san jose on the pacific ocean. it is many years since i was there but one of my doctors is building a house there and said it is as safe as any other place in cr.
from san jose could be 1.45 to 3 hrs drive, depending on the time and traffic man. It is safe and you have a lot of options to stay I have a friend that manages a really nice beach front property in case you are interested
About an hour and a half from San Jose. Fun town. Safe as long as you use common sense. Good restaurants and bars. Lotta talent. If you end up going, let me know and maybe I can make it down for dinner one night.
